Kisah seram: Highland Tower
Nak pergi malam. Hehe!
Tiba2 ada satu lagu Don't Worry be Happy berkumandang. Masing2 tengok muka masing2. Sairien keluarkan handphonenya.
Rupa2nya lagu tu dari handphone dia. Tiba2 lagu tu dimainkan sedangkan dia sibuk mengambil gambaq.
Saya beritahu mereka itu petanda baik. Kaum tu bagi tau don't worry be happy. Semua tersenyum.
Kami terus keluar mencari kedai makan.
Sedih sekali.
Tarikh kejadian: Dec 11, 1993
48 mati. kesemua penghuni Blok 1, termasuk anak bekas timbalan perdana menteri Tun Musa Hitam

Boring and dull leave makes Bad happy
I am writing this on my last day of leave for 2014. It was a relatively quiet and nowhere to go leave actually.
Money is....well, neither here nor there. Moreover, my 12-year old teenager has turned into a recluse, declining offers to go out once in a while.
But last week, we went back to Muar for satay, Kopi 434 and reminiscing the good old days before shooting off to Segamat to send off Shahrul Aiman. In a few days, he will be home for Christmas, so to speak.
A sober journey and we reached home at 8.30pm and had tinned food for dinner.
Shahrul also turned out to be a recluse. Locking himself in the room and facing the laptop, siang malam.
The eldest is working. So does Norlida. So, it is makan tiduq makan tiduq as always.
Tomorrow is back to work. A chance to meet friends who are leaving the company for good.

WRITING FOR A LIVING, ANYONE?
We have a new addition to a list of writers in our family. Athira is now a regular contributor to the NST's pull-out, Niexter. The first two articles received only a minimal editing from the Online Assistant editor himself, although the sub-editor got her name wrong for the second piece.
She almost gave up but is back to writing. this time, a moview review which is expected to be published next week.
Apart from me, Pak Long Zakaria is also a writer, contributing to several magazines and running a blog.
Pak dolah owns a website and is an official blogger. Both of them are quite keen but I am the only one holding a permanent post in a newspaper.
Auntie Ida used to wqrite regularly to NST many years ago. I keep the cuttings of her ramblings on reality.
Would like to see the others, especially the young ones, writing for NST or any of the Malay newspapers in the country.
They may have the talent but never get down to business. Who knows, my nephews and nieces can even write better than their uncles.
Over to you, kids!

CHERISHING A SATURDAY
Maybe, it's the music but I am feeling a little sentimental tonight. With a potpourri of traditional songs from different countries playing in the background, I can't help thinking what my son, Shahrul is doing in Serting. I don't expect him to call as we had just spoken last night, but as I looked through the glass door to the garden, my mind wandered off several years ago when the kids were playing outside on a Saturday. The boy would play badminton with the sister or running around. Just when the mother was about to call them in, one of them would be crying after a quarrel. But kids are just kids. My little girl, Adrin is sleeping on the couch and Athira is...well on the desktop, playing games and chatting. I promised to take them swimming tomorrow morning and I intend to keep my promise.

WHAT NEXT AFTER FUEL HIKE
I was caught off guard with the stunning announcement by Prime Minister Pak Lah on the fuel price hike. I could have gone to the petrol station to fill in full tank for both the Wira and Naza as I am on leave.
But then, it was too late as I only heard about it at 8pm. I am on leave and try to keep away from the newspapers and news, except for occasional peek at the blogs.
I was however thankful that the government had "forgotten" about the NGV. No price increase at the moment and I am thankful that I made the right choice a year ago when I purchased the NGV powered Naza Ria.
Many laughed at me, saying it was a car for someone who cannot afford to buy, but still want it.
Hahahaha! I am laughing now! Norlida is also smiling as she cannot drive due to the slipped disc. At least for the next one month.
I am just worried that the ridiculous fuel price hike would send many in a frenzy getting their vehicles NGV-powered.
That would mean a longer queue at the station. Already, many are asking for more details. My advice is, do not convert to NGV now. Let me fill in the tank at ease. After all, I am staying in Bukit Sentosa, closer to Perak than KL.

SHAHRUL DID IT
5As, 4As, 3As, 2As.....Yes, Shahrul, Nasrul, Azli and Najeeha. I have to admit I cried on Nov 15 after collecting Shahrul's UPSR result. It was one of the most exciting moments.
I am glad that he made it even without burning the midnight oil, so to speak. I guess, he must have taken it after his Ayah! Although some may argue it may have come from his Mama!! A little here and there....
It was worth the scoldings and pestering all these months. Allah is great and the teachers were fantastic. Tuition teachers are also, well, good.
But the boy is something else.
He volunteered to attend an additional tuition class for BM three months before UPSR. And it worked.
The feelings while waiting for the announcement were different from three years ago when Athira sat for her UPSR. Then, I got to the result several days before the BIG day from a friend in the Education Department.
It was smooth sailing. But this time, I had butterflies in my tummy for one week, I could not sit still, always sitting on the edge, UPSR constantly on my mind.
I am glad it ended well. But only half the battle won. I will still have to face another suspense come end of December. Yes, PMR's result will be out on Dec 27, so they say.
As for my nephews and nicece, I would like to say this. You beat Uncle Shem who only got 1A in the Standard Five examination, an equivalent to UPSR.
